Year 7 catch up Premium

The literacy and numeracy catch-up Premium gives state-funded schools and special schools, additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2.

Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium 2017/18

  • Year 7 catch-up premium received for this financial year: £5,000
  • The funding was spent in the following way: Our literacy lead trained all teachers in Read, Write Inc. training in the autumn term and purchased the book sets and resources for this @ £3,500
  • Last financial year the funding was spent in the following way: Our literacy lead attended Read, Write Inc. training in the summer term @ £500; two iPad's @ £270 each.
  • Teachers are very confident teaching phonics from Read, Write Inc. with the book sets and resources and training given so far. Pupils are enjoying learning about the letter characters and some have made greater progress than we expected in a short time. The iPad's have various teaching and learning apps on them to engage pupils in learning and have benefited some harder to reach pupils.

  • Year 7 catch-up premium received for this financial year: £1,000
  • The funding was spent in the following way: Our literacy lead attended Read, Write Inc. training in the summer term @ £500; two iPad's @ £270 each.
  • We spent our year 7 catch-up premium last financial year on two Be Active boxes @ £600 each and two bubble tubes @ £2.50 each. These help promote progress for pupils working in the Sensory Pathway and learning Cause and Effect, responding to sensory stimuli.
  • Pupils in the Sensory Pathway made expected progress or better during this academic year as a consequence.
